'The Book of Boba Fett' Could Have a Very Different Season 2
The following story contains spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett, Season 1.
The Book of Boba Fett was billed as something we've been waiting on for decades. The past, present, and future of the storied titular bounty hunter—Boba Fett!—who has been a fan-favorite fixture since his minimal screen time in the original Star Wars trilogy. What The Book of Boba Fett turned into was something almost entirely different; it wasn't exclusively Boba Fett's story, but rather a continuation of the larger storyline being told by Disney+'s Star Wars series, starting with the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.
And, so, while it shifted the focus of The Book of Boba Fett to bring in The Mandalorian himself (Pedro Pascal), and then even more to bring in Grogu, and Luke Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano, it continued the march of this new level of Star Wars series forward. In a way, it kind of models the structure of the way Netflix managed its Marvel universe, telling a story that was marching forward, but jumping back and forth between characters (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc) at the center of the narrative.
We don't know yet whether there will be an official Season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett, but based on how things have been structured, it feels like a safe bet that we'll see him (and Fennec Shand, and Mando, and Grogu) again. We just don't know when—and under what title—just yet.
Will there be a Season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett?
We don't know as of now. It seemed initially like The Book of Boba Fett would be its own thing; a standalone, 7-part series that finally gives us some characterization and background one one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise, despite the fact that he only had mere minutes of screen time in the original trilogy.
It now seems more than possible that in some capacity, there will be more Book of Boba Fett. The key piece of evidence? The Disney+ homepage refers to Episode 7 of The Book of Boba Fett not as a "Series Finale," but rather a "Season Finale." This could be referencing the fact that Boba Fett, in essence, felt like another chapter in this larger Disney+ Star Wars story that began with The Mandalorian; the next chapters are Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, both due for release in 2022.
